Fantasy creatures may incur additional fees depending on complexity of design.

Non-human characters with predominantly human features (i.e., vampires, fae) will typically fall under standard commission pricing.

Non-human characters with more complex design elements (such as cyborgs/androids, monsters, animal hybrids, etc.) may incur additional design fees at Sara’s discretion.

Any applicable surcharges will be communicated before the 50% deposit is collected.

COMMISSION REQUEST

To request a commission, please email saraduranauthor@gmail.com with the following information:

QUOTE AND INITIAL DEPOSIT

Once the character information is received, Sara will provide a quote that includes the commission type base pricing plus any requested add-ons or fees for complex design work. To formalize the commission and reserve their place in the queue, the client will then pay a non-refundable 50% deposit via KoFi, PayPal, or Venmo.

TURNAROUND TIME

Most commissions will be completed within 2 weeks of receiving the 50% deposit. Sara will communicate any anticipated delays beyond this TAT in advance. 

Rush commissions are available upon request (rush surcharges applicable at artist's discretion).

WATERMARKED PREVIEW

A watermarked preview of the completed artwork will be provided before final payment. Because the commission planning stage is comprehensive, Sara does not provide preliminary sketch approval rounds. This helps avoid rework and keeps commission prices affordable. 

REVISION ROUND

After receiving the watermarked preview, clients may request one round of minor revisions (such as adjustments to colors, facial expressions, or details that differ from the approved character profile).

Requests for major revisions (including changes to pose, composition, clothing, hairstyle, or other design elements) are not included once work has begun unless the artwork does not reasonably reflect the approved commission brief or Sara has clearly misunderstood the provided instructions. 

New information or design changes introduced after work has begun require an additional fee or a new commission.

FINAL DELIVERY

Sara will deliver the non-watermarked final artwork and a version with a transparent background upon receipt of the remaining 50% payment. At this stage, clients are encouraged to provide a testimonial, if they choose, and to tag her in any social media posts using the artwork to help her build her business!

PAYMENT

KoFi, PayPal, and Venmo accepted. 

A 50% non-refundable deposit is required before work begins. The remaining 50% is due upon approval of the watermarked preview and before delivery of the final high-resolution artwork.

CONTENT

Sara is not currently accepting explicit ("NSFW") commissions. This includes sexual content, nudity, explicit gore, or content that may be considered offensive or hateful. Sara reserves the right to decline any commission at her discretion.

Sara welcomes and encourages commissions for diverse characters, couples, and groups. 

COMMERCIAL LICENSING

Standard commission pricing includes a non-exclusive license to use the artwork to promote the client's writing and published works (e.g., social media, websites, newsletters, free promotional bookmarks, and other not-for-purchase physical and digital marketing materials). Copyright to the artwork remains with Sara Duran.

Standard commission pricing does not include the right to sell the artwork itself or reproduce it on products where the artwork is the primary value (such as art prints, apparel, stickers, posters, or other merchandise) without a commercial license.

Commercial licensing is available for a 100% surcharge on the standard commission price. This grants the client the commercial usage rights needed to use the artwork on products for sale and in for-purchase promotional materials, while Sara retains the underlying artist copyright, which allows her to display the art on her website, post it on social media, or otherwise use it to promote her services.

GENERATIVE AI AGREEMENT

Artwork created by Sara Duran may not be uploaded to, submitted to, or otherwise used with any generative artificial intelligence (AI) system for the purpose of training, prompting, referencing, reproducing, modifying, or generating new artwork. This restriction includes, but is not limited to, use of the artwork as an image prompt, style reference, training image, dataset material, or other input for AI-assisted image generation or editing.

Additionally, character artwork created by Sara Duran may not be manually or generatively composited, edited, or placed onto backgrounds or other visual elements created using generative AI.

Sara sketches and renders all work in the Procreate app on an Apple iPad A16 using an Apple Pencil.
